Iwona Safi is a seasoned strategist, coordinator, and evaluator with over two decades of experience in the international humanitarian and development nexus. She has successfully collaborated with top-tier organizations such as the European Union (EU), United Nations (UN), Organization for Security and Coordination in Europe (OSCE), International Financial Institutions (IFIs), and various international and local NGOs, delivering impactful results.
Iwona specializes in strategic management and has contributed to developing regional, national, and program-level strategies, result frameworks and socioeconomic measures. Her work involves cooperating with relevant stakeholders, including EU and UN agencies, within the scope of different coordination mechanisms. She has led strategic management processes that enhance organizational capacity and program sustainability. She has leveraged her expertise in data-driven decision-making, result-oriented monitoring, result-based management, and evaluation frameworks. Her leadership, multicultural sensitivity, and excellent communication skills have made her an asset in driving strategic change and implementing successful initiatives across diverse and complex environments.
Iwona conducted several dozen monitoring and evaluation assignments. Her extensive professional experience spans multiple regions, including Africa, Asia, Europe, and Oceania, where she has worked in different roles on numerous short and long-term projects and programmes implemented by different organizations, among others, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, International Labour Organization, Office of High Commissioner for Human Rights, United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women, World Bank, and German Development Bank.
Iwona holds a Doctor of Juridical Science and a Master in Law from Warsaw University and a certificate in Strategy and the Post Recession Economy from Harvard Business School and Harvard Kennedy School.
